Biography
Dr. David A. Moore is the Director of Trauma and Acute Care Surgical Psychology Services and a Senior Staff Clinical Health Psychologist at Henry Ford Hospital, in the Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery, and the Department of Psychiatry. He is the past Chair and current Vice Chair of the Henry Ford Hospital Ethics Committee, and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Moore served as the founding Director of the Henry Ford Health Trauma Recovery Center.
He is an internationally recognized expert in the field of Trauma Psychology and co-author of The psychology of acute trauma: A clinician’s guide to healing and recovery, the world’s first textbook on the development and implementation of integrated psychological services for trauma centers. Dr. Moore has served in leadership roles at all stages of training with a deep interest in facilitating the integration of psychology programs into medical settings, to date providing over 200 invited lectures to community and professional audiences alike.
Dr. Moore received his bachelor’s degree in psychology, as well as master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology with a concentration in health psychology and behavioral medicine from La Salle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he also eventually served as faculty. He has extensive clinical and research experience in academic medical centers across the United States, including: Henry Ford Hospital, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospitals, MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, and Cooper University Hospital. Dr. Moore has served as a clinician and researcher in three American College of Surgeons verified Level I trauma centers.
