5 Steps to Lose Weight Easily with The Daily Plate

First, let’s go over what I call “Weight Loss 101”

Fact # 1: If you consume more calories than you burn, you will gain weight.

Fact # 2: If you consume less calories than you burn, than you will lose weight.

Conclusion: If you knew how many calories you were consuming, and made sure burned more, you would lose weight.

5 Easy Steps to Weight Loss Using The Daily Plate

Step# 1: Create your free account at the Daily Plate via The Livestrong website.

Step# 2: Once you sign go to the top tool bar and put your curser over “Daily Plate”. From the drop down menu choose “My Plate”.

Step # 3: The first thing you are going to want to do is figure how many calories you should be eating to achieve your goals. Click on “Calorie Goals” and fill out the “Calorie Calculator”

The Daily Plate can calculate the number of calories you need to take in each day to achieve your weight goals — whether you want to maintain, lose, or gain weight. In general, to lose weight, you must reduce your total calorie intake, increase your exercise, or (ideally!) do both.

The Calorie Calculator will record your target total calories for your goal on your profile.

Step # 4: Weigh yourself to establish your start weight. Then click on “Weight” and record your first weigh in. Documenting your progress may be a little uncomfortable for you at first. GOOD, it’s supposed to be! Being uncomfortable is a great motivator! As a matter of fact, if you are REALLY SERIOUS about changing your life, click on the BMI chart and body measurements buttons on top (in red), and fill them out as well. Don’t be discouraged with your numbers. Remember, if you commit to this process you will be proud to look back at where you started from.

Step # 5: Make it a habit to start logging in everything you eat, every day. It gives you an option to “revert to the original MyPlate”, which I find to be much easier. You should try them both out to see which works best for you. It may take a few days it becomes a habit, but I promise you, once it happens, you will not look at your eating in the same way. Also, if you have a blackberry or iphone, make sure you download the app so you can log your meals from anywhere.

As the weeks go by and you chart your progress, you will be amazed at how much control you have over what you eat and your weight. Make sure you use the fitness log to keep track of the calories you burn with your workouts. You will find that keeping a meal and fitness diary is a powerful tool for self accountability. Challenge yourself to never miss a day. You will receive “badges” for consecutive days of logging in. If you do miss, remember, its progress, not perfection. The important thing is to keep moving forward. I found that there are days that the only thing keeping me away from a high calorie meal or missing a workout is the commitment I have made to myself using the Daily Plate.

Remember Lifestyle stresses like, what we eat, how we think, and how we use our body, ultimately affect the function of our nervous system. Every cell tissue and organ is run by your nervous system, (even your stomach and digestive system). You can’t be healthy without a healthy spine and nervous system. Make sure you have your nervous system checked so you can enjoy the healthy lifestyle that you deserve.
